Boats are regulated by passenger capacity and maximum weight capacity. The weight is based on each passenger at 135 lbs. If you are bringing all adults and the average person is over 135 lbs., you must bring fewer passengers than the boat allows. The number of passengers and the maximum weight are posted on the website for each boat. Overloaded boats can not leave our docks. If you are approaching the weight limit we suggest renting an extra boat.
All the passengers must sign the rental agreement.
If your rental date is within 15 days of booking day, you will be required to pay the full amount on a credit card. If your rental is more than 15 days from the booking day, you are only required to put 50% down on a credit card. The remaining balance must be paid in full 10 days prior to your rental date. YES, a $500 cash/credit card deposit shall be retained by the LESSOR as partial compensation for failing to return said rental craft in as good condition, ordinary wear and tear excluded, as when received; for reimbursement of articles damaged, missing or broken equipment; or to be applied to the rental charges upon return of the craft by LESSEE. The foregoing shall not limit LESSOR'S ability to seek its further damages at law or equity.
The credit card will be credited back with the security deposit amount minus any gas used or any damages or missing items. This will process the next business day after the boat is returned. It may take up to 48 hours for the credit card company to reflect the credit. (Holiday weekends may take up to two business days to process after the boat is returned).

Hitting the lake bottom with the prop will cause damage to the prop and possibly the lower unit that houses the gears. If you hit bottom or even question that you hit bottom, you should stop raise the motor and inspect for damages. Any damages at all should be called in immediately and we will send someone out to replace the prop before serious damages are caused to the lower unit. Prop replacement while you are out on the water is $250. If you have a bent prop or a severely damaged prop and return to the dock with such damages, a charge of $1,000 will be issued until such time that the cost of any unexposed damage has been determined by a marine mechanic.
Check-in time to receive a boat is from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. If this time does not work for your schedule, you must call us and set up an appointment time for us to meet you at the landing. Please call 803-462-5292 before 9:00 AM on the day of your reservation to schedule such appointments. All boats must be returned by 6:00 PM or Sunset, whichever is earlier. Late fees are $25.00 every 15 minutes.

The boat will be fully fueled upon pickup. We will refuel the boat upon return and any gallons used will be deducted from the $500 security deposit. The Acapulco Landing does not have a gas dock. We will show you where the gas docks are located along the lake. FYI: If you use more than one gallon of gas to get back to our landing from filling up, you will be responsible for that usage. Please check with the office for the gas service pricing.
South Carolina does not require a boating license. However, we do require a valid driver’s license to be able to rent a boat. You must be at least 23 years of age to rent the boat, but at least 18 to drive the boat. SC Department of Natural Resources offers a handbook for common rules and regulations. You are advised to read this information before renting a boat. The person renting the boat is responsible for all damages while the boat is being operated, regardless of whom they have allowed driving during the rental period. For inexperienced drivers, prop damage is very possible due to poor underwater visibility. The prop will be inspected by both the renter and the staff to ensure there is no damage prior to renting. All props are inspected when the boat is returned. Severe prop damage found at return will result in a $1000.00 charge for the insurance deductible. Prop damage reported and repaired at the time of the accident is $250. This requires the renter to call and report the incident immediately.
We will show you the basic fundamentals of the boat at check-in, but will not be available to teach driving lessons. Visit http://www.dnr.sc.gov/education/boated.html for more information on boater education.

Once all drivers have arrived, we will verbally review the boat contract with your party, explaining all insurance information, rules, regulations, and safety guidelines. The primary renter and all intended drivers will sign the boat rental contract. A representative will walk you to the boat to point out all safety equipment, ropes, anchor, undamaged propeller, Lake Murray map, and radio.
Yes, we do allow dogs (UNDER 50 LBS.) on our boats. Any damage due to pet claws, chewing, etc. will be the renter’s responsibility. Also, if the boat is excessively dirty due to the pet that may require a pressure washing, an extra cleaning fee or damages may be charged.
Please consider: During the Summer months it is always near 100 degrees. Our swim ladders do not work for pets. Most attempts to beach on an island cause boat and motor damage. Pets are not normally welcome at marinas with restaurants. On a crowded boat, only one person is happy you brought your dog.
Grills will not be allowed on the boat at all. If you would like to grill out, there is a grilling area at the landing for no charge. Bring your own supplies. Gas generators and Fireworks are also not allowed for safety reasons.
Carry-on chairs are not allowed. There is seating for the capacity of the boat. Chairs can not be used on a boat and beaching a boat onshore is not allowed, therefore there should not be a need.
Yes, we do allow all water sports from our pontoon boats. All pontoons can be fun for tubing if not too weighted down with occupants. We rent tubes from the landing for $40 per day. Check the specials tab for any current specials on tubes!. No more than one tube or towable is allowed to be used at any time. No person should be in the water and within 30 feet of the boat when the motor is running.
Yes we do, it’s Lake Murray! Just keep the boat clean. There will be fees for any extra cleaning necessary if left excessively dirty. South Carolina does require a fishing license. Department of Natural Resources does ticket for fishing without a license. You can purchase one here: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/purchase.html or at a local tackle shop or even Wal-Mart.
All pontoons and tri-toons will have the required Coast Guard safety equipment, a Bimini top, life jackets, swim ladder, rope, anchor, fenders, depth finder, map of Lake Murray if requested, and AM/FM radio. Some boats are also equipped with fish finders.
Our pontoons do not have restroom facilities.
Upon check-in we will answer any questions you have about area businesses on the lake. You will also have the opportunity to borrow or buy ($10) a Lake Murray map for reference. However, if you or anyone in your party has a smart phone, using Google Maps is recommended. If your phones GPS location is turned on, you will be able to view your actual location on the map. As you move along the water, an arrow moves along with you to show you your location. You can enter in any address of any Lake Murray business and it will pin it on the map for you to see your destination. Visit the Landing & Area Info tab to view local businesses pinpointed on a Google map.
Beaching a boat is not allowed. There are many reasons this is costly to both you and the company. Most damage is done by driving too close to land and attempts to go onshore. There is an anchor on each boat allowing you to safely stay offshore.
Yes, the boats do not come with coolers supplied. We do have ice at the landing for purchase.
If within 24 hours of your day of rental, the National Weather Service forecast is calling for at least a 70% chance of rain on the day of your rental or if it is raining at the landing during the time of your scheduled 9:00 am pickup or if there is a small craft wind advisory for Lake Murray; a cancellation can be issued with a full refund. Full refunds are also allowed as long as you cancel at least ten days prior to the reservation. In addition, the credit card on file will be charged ten days prior to the reservation as you are contractually obligated to pay off the full balance in this time frame. We will send a payment reminder before charging the card. No other refunds will be issued for any reason within the 10 day period prior to the reservation.
Parking is FREE, however, parking is limited and therefore we have marked off a location for cars that are renting boats vs. cars and trucks that are pulling boat trailers. Someone will be there to assist with parking.
If you are bringing another vessel such as jetskis, there is a $5.00 charge to launch any boats at the ramp.
Yes, you can. The benefits are that you can keep the boat moored at your dock allowing you a few extra hours of use each day. Boats must be docked prior to sunset and cannot be used until after sunrise. You must be aware our boats do not have navigation lights for nighttime operations. This is for both your safety and others. Please inquire if you have any questions.
All docks must be approved for overnight docking. Contact us for approval.
